'Taming the wild to bring it back home'
- Nick Blackmore -
I grew up in Teesdale in County Durham surrounded by nature and wildlife, which sparked my love for the countryside and field sports. After school, I went to study Countryside Management and Game at the Northern School of Game and Wildlife at Newton Rigg College, Cumbria. I was particularly interested in Deer Management and helping to manage the shooting, being the Pheasants at the college, the grouse on Shap moor and the Woodcock in Greystoke Forest.
I then went to study Practical Product and Spatial Design at CCAD, which is where I learnt how to do technical drawing, which is what I use as the basis of my art.
Combining what I learnt at both Colleges, I've developed a unique medium in drawing Game Birds, Deer, African animals and other fauna using pointillism with a variety of sizes of fineliner pens to draw beautiful black and white drawings, occasionally with a splash of colour!
